October is the seasonal best in Beijing as the mid-autumnal Mother Nature begins to show kaleidoscopic charms and beauty in plant diversity of rich colors on the woody mountains in the outskirt west and north of Beijing and on the flowery streets and in the floral parks in the city. And this October is a special, a cut above all, if we refer the seasonal best to another scope of view, as China is presenting what it has never been better in a gorgeous celebration of its 70th birthday of the Peoples Republic of China founded in 1949, with a breath-taking military parade, an unprecedented array of new features in both brains and brawns. This astounding greatness can also be felt in the civilian procession that demonstrates the featured achievements in socio-economic progress in phases over the past seven decades. What is more, the evening gala show is charismatically colorful with youths dressed in ethnic costumes, singing and dancing to the joyful rhythm of music amid creatively patterning and explosively blooming firecrackers.

Nevertheless, we are watching the magnificent parade and procession in different perspective by profession, in the point that the featured clothes, either uniforms or costumes, are to the celebration event what the colorful leaves are to the Autumn, meaning that the textile industry makes a great contribution to the successful celebration of our National Day in all dimensions, for military and civil splendors.

If we are perspicacious enough to see both the tree and the forest, the military uniforms and civilian costumes are just a feather of peacock. Obviously, the fibers are largely used for apparel and home-textiles or interior decorations, but there are many areas for fiber application that is not very much noticed in our naked vision in what is termed as” technical textile” category, and the fiber-reinforced material is one of the many, being increasingly used in national defense, transportation, water conservancy projects, aerospace & aviation, environment, agriculture, construction, medical care & operations, industrial and civil engineering etc. for reinforcement and protection purposes. Chinas mill consumption of fibers came up to 54.6 million tons last year (approx. 30 percent out of which goes to tech-textile application), representing 51.28 percent of the world total, and the man-made fiber production reached an awesome level to break 50 million tons, more than two-thirds of the global production. Let us take a look at its yarn, China takes up 80 percent more of the yarn production for ?60 –count product line, and over 90 percent more for yarn-dyeing production, and its export of textiles and apparel still holds a considerable share of the world trade by 35 percent despite the fact that the rising costs for production have driven a number of Chinese textile players to invest in new operations overseas, handicapped with China-US trade strife that resulted in a decreasing outbound shipment to the United States.

A strong military force demonstrates not only a rock-solid spirit to defend our nation, but also a physical mighty to support the firm will and determination, and textile is an indispensable component of the military capabilities, also of many other sectors of applications, in making our army strong, making our nation strong. For this goal, we textile players must make ourselves strong in the process of building an innovation-driven, sustainabilityresponsible and culture-led textile industry, a full-fledged system that keeps the scientific, green and fashionable cogs of the industry running, safe and sound.
