The Chinese Spirit

　　More than 20 days have passed since the Chinese Government launched an all-outbattle against the novel coronavirus pneumoniaon January 20, and the campaignhas now entered a critical stage.

　　SinceFebruary 8, the number of recoveredpatients discharged from the hospital hasbeen rising rapidly.

　　The government is doing its best tohospitalize all suspected cases and put allclose contacts in isolation for observation.

　　The spread of the virus is being contained,making massive infection in the futureunlikely. Victory is on the horizon, as longas the anti-virus measures continue to bewell implemented.

　　Great institutional advantages haveemerged during this battle. After PresidentXi Jinping urged resolute efforts to containthe epidemic, the entire country hasbeen strategizing as in a chess game, withall localities activating first-level publichealth emergency responses. Under theuniformed command and coordination ofthe Central Government, the whole countryhas strengthened epidemic controlefforts. Every artery in Chinese society isplaying its due role in this battle, somethingthat would be impossible in mostother countries.

　　More than 11,000 medical workersfrom across the country have been sentto the epicenter of Wuhan as of February10； Huoshenshan and Leishenshan hospitals,the two makeshifts with a total of2,600 beds for infected patients, wereeach completed in 10 days； mobile cabinhospitals with thousands of beds werebuilt to treat patients with mild symptoms；hotels, training centers and localcollege dormitories have been temporarilyconverted into medical facilities withequipment and professionals for isolatedtreatment of suspected patients or medicalobservation of close contacts.

　　After the outbreak, Chinese scientistsisolated its strain in record time,lending immeasurable support to thefi ght against the epidemic. The ChineseGovernment immediately shared informationof the virus with the WorldHealth Organization and other countries,making contributions to internationalanti-virus cooperation. It has been widelypraised by the international communityfor its openness and transparency in theanti-virus fi ght.

　　While tightening epidemic control,China is working to maintain a stable andorderly daily life for people, as well as regularproduction. Food supplies are ensured,production restarted in early February, andfees, rents and taxes were cut to supportbusinesses. After a temporary pause, thelocomotive of the second largest worldeconomy is moving forward again.

　　Chinese people will remember theSpring Festival of 2020 forever, not onlybecause of the epidemic, but also for theperseverance and solidarity shown in thebattle against the virus and the longing fora bright future for all.
